So much to say about yesterday’s wedding. But first, thank you so much Lexie and Rob for trusting us and choosing us for such a monumental day in your lives. You brought the fun and great people to share it with. Such a great time! One thing I love most about this venue is the incredible access to not only hearing amazing music in a room with such pronounced acoustics, but having the opportunity to literally get to stand right next to the band and watch all that they do. The indoor-outdoor experience with this venue is so much fun. You can go in and out dancing, go right to the bar, everything being so close and not separated at all. This was so so great to witness. Thank you @diamondempireband !

Completed the lime wash wall in the checkered room. We really struggled getting the depth to show on this wall and the swooshes to come through more, but I am much happier with this result than what it was before. Now I will start working on completing the room to be fully ready as a bridal suite. Forgive my nasal-ness, but I wanted to give a little peek into how incredible our LDDA is. Out of the kindness of their hearts, they decided to host an event at Bestow SOLELY to give thanks and honor all the retailers that work so hard and fight through slow months to make Longmont so special. Do any other cities do this?? I was honestly taken aback and felt it was one of the nicest things done for our community. For all those who came out, thank you. It made me happy to see our place filled with those who also felt this event was so nice to attend and have put on specifically for them. The details of the event were amazing, you could get a 15 minute chair massage, a hand massage, your birthdate astrological reading, eat yummy local food, and fill out anonymous questions for them to learn how they can make things even better for all of us. I have been impressed with the LDDA for many years, ever since moving to the downtown strip. They really care about our community, about local businesses remaining local and doing everything that they can to see our businesses thrive. As retailers, we can all feel very frustrated at times, but I hope you all realize how incredibly lucky we are to have the support of such a phenomenal city business backing us up. @owndowntownlongmont #owndowntownlongmont

It’s a heartfelt feeling to hear kind words over and over about how beautiful our space is, how excited people are that we are here, and that they not only accept it but express how much of a need it fills. It fills me with gratitude and teaches my husband and partner to learn to embrace and accept how well he’s done. Something that’s normally hard for him to do. Being accepted by our community only makes me want to give back to my community even more. That’s the beautiful cycle of giving. We are so proud to be a part of downtown Longmont and all its growth and feel a true calling to be steadfast in making a positive impact in our city’s culture and occasions. This photo doesn’t show any bit of our space or the details of the photoshoot at hand and yet it’s one of my absolute favorite images sent to me by @aylaraeweddings . The use of shadows from the garage door windows has me in a chokehold. Who is she? What happened next? Did they just meet or are they long time lovers? Why were they dressed up and what party did they just sneak off from?? Did he end up slipping her dress off?? What happened?! I need to know like it’s the end of an episode forcing me to wait a whole week now just to find out. I’m constantly in awe witnessing how photographers utilize this space in such creative ways. Looking at images in how they view it through their camera lens is amazing. I can tell you one thing that’s ‘for sure for sure’ - choosing to spend good money on a talented, incredibly dialed-in photographer who encompasses the style of images that you are drawn to is 100% worth the money. In fact, I’d argue that it’s the most important money you will spend on your occasion because the gifts of photographs received afterwards are treasures that will last you a lifetime to look at and reminisce over. Photography isn’t cheap, neither is the all the money and time photographers spend perfecting their craft so that you are left with photos that tell YOUR story and leave you in awe. Last thing I’ll say - at 30 years old I was broke as joke and still decided to fly to Seattle to meet a photographer (female) I was completely taken by because of her beautiful work and how poignantly she blogged about going through a divorce. A path I knew I was on, but hadn’t yet accepted. I found strength in her. To have a mini session it was $500 (plus the flight and hotel) which I didn’t have, but I figured it out and did it anyways. I STILL look at those photos of my younger self at times. I see so much memory, the unknown and innocence imprinted in those photos and I’m taken by viewing myself through the lens of loving myself. I wouldn’t have those specific connections with myself without those images. My point? Paying for photography is by far one of the greatest gifts you could ever give yourself. Penny pinch to make it happen.

Our weddings start in April, and to say we are eagerly awaiting the level of joy to witness such monumentally special days in couple’s lives is an understatement. I can confidently say I know it will be a feeling of pride that I will feel over and over and over again. I’ve been working in the wedding world for 20 years of my life now via flowers and I still want to be a part of it. Just had the chance to go through the full gallery from @arleeyoderr ‘s recent shoot with @annietheflowerhunter at Bestow, and I am absolutely blown away! Before I even finished scrolling, I was already obsessed with these three stunning black-and-white shots. Arlee’s ability to utilize every corner of the building is incredible. I love the first photo, where the couple leans against the movable wall—it adds such dynamic dimension to the shot. The second photo, taken through the glass of the garage door, is so beautiful. A venue soon to be filled with many plants as we grow because there’s no shortage of light for them to bask in and we already know plants make everything better.

Receiving this note was incredibly special. Especially from two individuals I admire in the industry and one in particular who knew me before flowers and events became my way of life; when I was a bartender aspiring to grow in a way I believed I was capable of even though I didn’t necessarily know how to. Sometimes I still don’t. But for some reason I have a passion inside me that continues to fuel my direction even though I fumble often along the way. Passion can be messy, but messes can always be cleaned up. • I have a deep respect for people like this. Those that show up for you when you least expect it and instill in you that you matter and what you’re doing matters. It’s the kind of kindness that reminds you how important connection is. • One of my greatest joys from Bestow will be to bear witness to many forms of connection. Reflecting both literally and figuratively. Notice the difference in the use of the wall, photographers… First snow day since Bestow has been completed and honestly, it’s pure magic in here. To be cozy within these beautiful walls, yet entertained by falling snow right outside these big 12 foot glass garage doors; it’s stunning. If only more people knew about us yet because this place is special. For any of you that have been following along or enjoy this space as much as we do, we’d greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word and sharing our gram. The more people we can be of service to the better we will become and we want that for one goal in mind - to be an inclusive, creative space for clients and vendors to explore their talents and host some of the best memories of their lives.

Being shared this first professional photo of Bestow from @larsenphotoco brought tears to my eyes. I told her “this journey has been an intense one so thank you for sharing your beautiful talent to show our space in such a beautiful light”. She and other photographers, planners and vendors stopped by our open house over the last two days and made me feel so good hearing their praise of the space, details and light. I want Bestow to be of service to gorgeous works of photography, film, music and events and hope so much that people think it’s good enough for that. They all made me feel very welcomed into their craft and spoke very highly of what the building is capable of doing. I truly cannot wait to see magic created in here. This picture alone makes my heart skip a beat. I asked for their advice on certain things and will definitely implement all of their teachings. One of my absolute favorite realizations last night was seeing what we can do with the bar area (our bar is mobile though and can be moved anywhere!) and this corner in general with lighting. We will have up-lighting behind the bar but with the right angle we can create the most epic reflection on the wall. It was awesome. This means we can play with this during photography shoots as well. I’m telling you, this building is a playground to get funky and free with. • #letsmakemagic #downtownlongmont

What a night!!! Friends who are family surrounded us with love and light and the most amazing heartfelt support. Diego and I are truly blessed. We hosted a Friendsgiving to give us a little taste of Bestow as a venue and for he and I to work out any kinks, although we know we still have a few things to complete. But to be able to sit down at the table and look across all these beautiful faces and this beautiful building, I can honestly say we are very proud. Very very proud. It’s a gorgeous venue and we could see so clearly its potential. The lighting, the flow of the space, the patio, it’s all so wonderful and my goodness we can’t wait to see it transformed over and over again. Looking at these photos brings up a lot of emotions, but one thing I find fascinating is that I completely, 100% forgot that the floors were checkered before. That had absolutely no bearing on me deciding to make that floor checkered tile today. Funny, I suppose some things are just simply supposed to be left the way they were :-) I like that. I kept the brick in this room untouched because I wanted this building to show off its bones. She’s beautiful and I knew it the moment I set eyes on her walking inside. I have always deeply loved older buildings and ones that people would consider rundown. Receiving these chairs feels like such a victory! There was a lot of stress leading up to this moment, especially after my original order fell through when the supplier informed me they didn’t have enough stock and couldn’t get more until December. I didn’t want just any chairs; I was looking for something unique that would complement the aesthetic of the venue. So, I searched high and low to find chairs that fit our vision and could be delivered in time for our first event next weekend. A huge thanks to @richwoodimportsinc in Ontario, CA, for stepping in and not only providing beautiful, comfortable, lightweight chairs that suit the space even better than my first choice, but also saving us $2,000! Now, as I unbox all 150 of these, I feel a great sense of relief and excitement for the finishing touches coming together in the next few days. Today is a very good day!

Could NOT be more obsessed with the wallpaper in the bathrooms. Thank you to Susan with @figandivyhome for showing me samples to choose from. Once I saw these, nothing else was good enough. Now to paint the walls and the ceiling! ;)

Because the alternative is worse. I wouldn’t understand the depths of who I really am and what I’m designed for nor have the confidence to know how good of a person I am. The end result is not for me, but the ‘getting there’ is. The middle; where it’s the most hard and feels the heaviest, that’s where I learn and what I’m not willing to give up. My dreams have always been fueled by working tirelessly to get there. They’ve never been given nor expected to be. • After a long night of processing fear for many different reasons, I walked into Bestow to look at wallpaper and learned that unbeknownst to me (I’m sure because my husband wanted to surprise me as he’s in charge of the schedule) that we had two final inspections this morning, for plumbing and mechanical. We passed. This leaves only electrical standing in our way to get CO. After 20 intense months, we are now one day away from being legally allowed to use our space. • A space that will never be just a space. A venue that will never be just a venue. It’s a building representing a literal dream come true and one with all kinds of messy middle getting there. • I am very grateful for the middle because it provides Bestow with what no other venue will ever have — our “what it took to get there.” That is what will set us a part.
